Introduction

Our brief from the outset was clear, to create a full Carbon Fibre replacement Inlet Manifold for the VR38 that would allow the customers engine package to perform at it’s optimum potential. The final product is not only a piece of automotive art, but is the best all round performing VR38 Inlet Manifold on the market today.

Performance Gains

During back to back testing against the stock Nissan VR38 Inlet Manifold carried out on our JCR Track Edition R35 GTR at the Advanced Motorsport Dynapack Hub dyno we witnessed huge gains in horsepower and torque when 90.21whp at 6800rpm and a peak delta of 83.17wtq at 4750rpm representing a 12.48% increase in power and a 11.94% increase in torque from the stock inlet manifold, firmly placing the JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifold right at the top of the pile when it comes to performance increase of any VR38 Inlet Manifold on the market today.

The JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifold also improves transient throttle response and on / off response due to correctly sized plenums and optimised bellmouth & runner designs.

Single Piece Full Carbon Fibre Construction

The key factor in the JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifolds success is replacing the two-piece stock design with an intricate one-piece part. This allows for seamless airflow through the runners, removing any possibility of interruptions to the airflow in the most vital of areas. 

This one piece design allowed our engineers to optimise the overall runner design while controlling the transition of the boosted air from the round bellmouth to the oval / square head port design without the limitations of the stock 2 piece style upper / lower design. The plenum design is vital in a post throttle body boosted application with the JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifold more evenly distributing the air between all cylinders while increasing overall flow characteristics.

Full Carbon Fibre construction means a huge reduction in heat soak over that of an Aluminium part resulting in lower air intake temperatures and ultimately more power & torque. Integral Carbon Fibre throttle body flanges ensure a super reliable fixing point and remove any concerns of fatigue on unsupported areas of the manifold due to the use of just one consistent material.

Super Light, Super Strong

At just 1.60kg complete, the JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifold cuts the weight of the stock VR38 Inlet Manifold by over 75% and is therefore by far the lightest VR38 inlet manifold available.

Some might believe that lightweight may lead to reduced strength; this couldn’t be further from the truth. Our engineers stressed the piece to 10bar (147psi) with a 100% contingency in the material yield strength. Each manifold produced undergoes a rigorous sign off procedure including a 10bar endurance pressure test. We are confident that the JCR Carbon Fibre Inlet Manifold can handle more than any VR38 engine can throw at it.
